How to send me photos

  • Firstly, the subject needs to have been reliably identified.
  • I'd prefer to receive un-cropped pictures. This allows me to include any useful marginal details which provides useful context and scale, even if out of focus. Also if you crop and re-save that reduces the image quality which gets further reduced when I process it myself.
  • When attaching and sending photos by email remember to send them as files rather than photos. This is because photos get compressed when sent as photos but they remain unchanged when sent as files.
  • It is good to receive location and substrate information.
  • Consider taking a general location picture of the habitat. It is really interesting to see pictures of different places and can provide valuable ecological information.
  • All pictures are gratefully received although there is no guarantee I will use them.
